Barkerville

This cairn marks the 400-mile Cariboo Wagon Road that was constructed between 1862 and 1865 and was considered to be the 8th Wonder of the World at the time and to be one the main legacies of BC’s gold rush era. It was the best and most-used route to the Cariboo gold fields in Barkerville.

Surveyors that worked on the project include Joseph W. Trutch and Col. Richard Clement Moody of the Royal Engineers.

Lorin is photographed here with his brother and nephews: L-R: Jonah, Lorin, Michael, Rylie & Jason.
